BEACH COMBING
There is nothing as
soothing
As a day spent strolling along the beach
While surveying all the treasures
The waves have cast upon the sand
Then returning home to soap the salt away.
THE BEACH AS A PLACE FOR LONERS
The beach can be the
best haven for the lonely.
Waves relentlessly lapping
Against the shore
Grabbing at the sand
Begging for its companionship
After each refusal
The sea relents
Only to try again
But be pushed aside
By the sand
Which only blows in the eyes of the loners
Lolling about endlessly hours.
BEACH BUM
I have the beachcomber
blues,
Daydreaming of seashell summers,
Strolling by seaside shanties,
My toes icy cold from swirling tides.
There is no freedom felt
Unless it is the seclusion of the outdoors.
Permit me to be an outdoor hermit.
THE BEACH
As I stand on the
shore
The waves are beckoning to me.
The seagulls are calling my name.
But I’m stuck here on this lousy shore.
O sea, I want your cold wet womb
To keep me embryonic forever.
When I feel down
I always find a beach
And let the waves
Cry for me.
I am driftwood
Understand me
I do not linger long.
I am driftwood
Settled at shore
A short while.
BEACH DREAMIN’
The full moon’s
Shining on the sand dunes
And the scenery’s an oil painting still wet
So I think I’ll just let
Myself linger along the beach
Daydreamin’ about you just out of reach.
Then with stick in hand
I write in the sand
“I love you” so the world will know
But even though the tide’s low
A wave sweeps my sentiment out to sea
There to float for eternity.
SUMMER SMILE
I can remember the
summer day in your smile
And love was lying on the beach a long while.
HUMAN DRIFTWOOD
I am just a drifter
Drifting through life
Person to person
Without an anchor
Sometimes taking a lot
Sometime giving a lot
Always looking back a lot
But searching out the future more
Always turned on by the
New person, new experience
Some see me as a destroyer
Crushing people’s lives
Some see me as a battleship
Blasting bonds apart
Some see me as a cruiser
Just cruising around
Some see me as a sailboat
Just gently passing through
Some see me as a speedboat
Roaring through and leaving a wake
Some see me as a submarine
Sneaking up silently from behind
Others see me as a rescue boat
Throwing out a lifesaver
But all see me come
….and go.
