VISION QUEST

In the early spring of 2008 a group of people came together to experience a week of vision quest and sacred ceremony up in Mt. Shasta in July. The final group consisted of 10 supporters and 11 questers.

Vision does not truly exist because it is ever changing.
The vision is really the journey. And your journey is now.

Vision Prayer by Wolf Moondance

Heya, Grandmother/Grandfather Spirit/Creator/God. I feel you here looking at me, giving me the way and the understanding of spirit. I ask you to open my mind to your spirit voices that I might have a vision. I want to meet my guides and be shown the truth of a vision. I want my vision to come dear to me. I want to see your thoughts and path for my life. As I walk into the square, protect me from my own fears and from anything that might harm me. Bring the good of the vision to me and let me use it to bring a strong healing and a good walk to my life.  Bless all the spirits and teachers who help me with this vision. Bless the Earth Mother as I sit with her and listen and see my vision. Thank you, Spirit, for the vision I will have. Guide me in the truth of the vision for the rest of my life. Aho!

Dagara Song of Return from Initiation
From Malidoma Patrice Some, Of Water & the Spirit

I had a date in the bush

With all the gods,

So I went.

I had a date in the bush

With all the trees,

So I went.

I had a date in the mountain

With the Kontomble

I went because I had to go.

I had to go away to learn

How to know.

I had to go away to learn

How to grow.

I had to go away to learn

How to stay here.

So I went and knocked at doors

Locked in front of me.

I craved to enter.

Oh, little did I know

The doors did not lead outside.

It was all in me.

I was the room and the door.

It was all in me.

I just had to remember.

And I learned that I lived.

Always and everywhere.

I learned that I knew everything,

Only I had forgotten.

I learned that I grew

Only I had overlooked things.

Now I am back, remembering.

I want to be what I know I am,

And take the road we always

Forget to take.

Because I heard the smell

Of the things forgotten

And my belly was touched.

That’s why I had a date with the bush.

That’s why I had a date with the hill.

That’s why I had a date with the world

Under.

Now, Father, I’ll take you home.

I am back.
